Commissions

To commission a painting gives you the opportunity to choose a subject matter that is very personal to yourself or the recipient, or something a little more exacting in content to what you require.

The most popular subjects are dogs and horses, also landscapes and scenes with game birds, depicting a particular shoot or drive.

I often like to take my own reference photos in order to get more of an artists eye on the subject. Sometimes, with distance and circumstance, this is not always possible, but I can happily work with reference provided by the client too.

We will discuss, subject, size, price, and timescale, which will leave us both very clear about the forthcoming process.

Pricing is normally gauged by size,  but other factors such as detail, number of animals etc,  can also dictate this. Here is a rough price guide; 

• A4 with full background @ £450

• A3 with full background  @ £700

• 30” wide @ £2200

For studies with no background, then it is 1/3 less than above prices. You can choose any size that suits. I have done quite a few large scale paintings, up to 5ft wide. The above sizes indicate the actual painted image size.
